Using trust as a competitive weapon

In times of increased globalisation, with greater competition from growing economies, there are still business relationships out there based on proximity and a common company culture. Luleå Generatorservice runs its business in such an environment. Just like us at Andrénverken.

Luleå Generatorservice

Luleå Generatorservice was previously part of ABB, but it has been an independent company since 2001. The company services, repairs and rebuilds generators. The work concerns some of the community's most critical functions in the infrastructure.

  • Formed in Luleå in 2000
  • World leader in service and maintenance relating to power generation
  • Turnover: SEK 82 million (2013)
  • 30 employees

Luleå Generatorservice works with service, rebuilding and repairs. The company specialises in rotary frequency converters for the railway and generators for hydroelectric power stations. The market is well-defined and everyone in the industry knows of Luleå Generatorservice. The company has a good reputation, with knowledgeable experts who always deliver reliable results. The experts function as an effective workshop resource where, among other things, a former locomotive workshop has been fitted out to look after the main railway line's converters.

When Luleå Generatorservice was founded in 2001, it already had experts with broad experience from previous activities within the organisation. The importance of working with people and companies that you trust is clearly reflected when Anders Eriksson, Managing Director at Luleå Generatorservice AB, describes his vision of good suppliers.

No weak links

– We need suppliers who think like us. The whole chain, from the production of components to assembly and finalised projects, must stick to the plan. We know that with the right suppliers we'll be able to deliver on our commitments, says Anders.

They think and act like we do. It works from beginning to end.

Anders Eriksson, Luleå Generatorservice AB

At Andrénverken, we produce electrical sheet metal and polarised sheet metal for the generators and converters that Luleå Generatorservice repairs and maintains. The thin, pressed sheets are adapted to each project and we manufacture the tools that are needed in the production ourselves. By having full control over the entire production process, we can guarantee quality and delivery times.

Lasting trust

This is one of many examples of how the company culture lays the foundations for long-term customer relations. Our contact with Luleå Generatorservice was already established before the company was founded. The collaboration with, and deliveries from, Andrénverken have therefore always been a natural link.

Luleå Generatorservice wants to have its suppliers as close by as possible. Companies in Norrland are always in good shape and Swedish suppliers are prioritised.

Even when the prices of manufacturers based in other parts of the world look attractive, other factors can determine the choice of supplier. As far as we are concerned at Andrénverken, trust is a valuable asset.

– The approach to assignments and the responsibility for established agreements aren't handled in the same way everywhere. Andrénverken has the correct competence to produce our sheet metal. And they think and act like we do. That's why it works from beginning to end, confirms Anders Eriksson at Luleå Generatorservice.
